Once in a while our services extend past our usual ones offered. This lovely house in south Devon received a few little extras.
The previous gutters on the Manor were 4 inch plastic and not only insufficient for the amount of rainwater entering but also just generally failing from poor installation and general wear and tear. After Listed Building Consent agreed to increase the gutters to 5 inch we were delighted to be asked to install all new cast iron gutters, downpipes and hoppers. We also repaired, renewed and freshly painted all the fascia and barge boards on the building.
Being traditionalists we used linseed oil putty on all the gutter joins and cast or molten lead to seal in the downpipes.
From here we painted all the windows exterior and repaired or replaced window calls and re-glazed the ones that had failed.
The rear of the property is rendered and required painting. After carefully pressure washing all the walls we painted two fresh coats and brought it back to life.
My advice was actually to remove all the render and repoint the stone with a lime mortar. This was not achievable this time round but is something now being considered for the coming years. For now though, the paint really helps the house aesthetically in its general appearance.
